Die Stadt
The Swan Bell Tower with its bells is a striking landmark of Perth.
And also the black swans on the Swan River.
The Perth Mint is open to the public for guided tours. There you can see
how an ingot of gold is casted, learn something about the history of the
goldrush or the Perth Mint itself. Another highlight is that everyone is allowed
to lift an ingot of gold (it is protected against thiefs).
In Perth the contrast between new skyscrapers and the odd historic
building is obvious.
But sometimes it is not what it seems to be. The so called London Court
was built in the 1930s, following an example of an old english alley.
Not only the nice looks of the London Court but also the shops inside tempt a
lot of visitors to spend money every day.
This is an often seen picture on the freeways around Perth. There are
simply too many cars for the streets to cope with and at least in the morning
and evening there are traffic jams (without any accidents happening).
And this is something else that can be seen on the freeways.
